Ebay gone weird again.

Chinese sellers are being able to indicate the product is being sold in your location...when in reality its a chinese registered seller shipping from the uk but NOT in your area.

How they do it or get away with it is beyond me.

While i am having a rant does anyone else hate the search filter. You put lowest price plus shipping and you wind up with all the multi option listings , often with a stupid 99p item just to put it at the top listings.

Why cant we have a filter that removes multi option listings so we can get a true picture .

Yeah i was assuming this was part of that phillosophy.

When there's a dozen or more "spam" listings, find a common word (typically "quality" ) and use a search filter: just put for example -quality in your search string and it will remove all the ads which have that word in the title.

The guy i worked with did the same....we had our own dedicated ebay rep on her own number and he regularly got feedback removed....

I have just had a UK location item delivered from some Asian country, it took ten days and there was a Royal Mail 48 hour sticker over the original posting address.

The trick is not to look for where they are posting from but to look at the estimated delivery date, when you see the item located at Manchester but the delivery time is 21 days then you know it's a con.

I think there is a set up that works it so that Asian suppliers can register with them in the UK and by doing so on the surface appear to be a UK seller.

Some Asian sellers do hold stock in the UK so the actual business address is not always a give away.

It's important to remember if they advertise UK then they can not demand you return items to China or wherever, it has to be within the UK, luckily they can't have it both ways.

I used to sell hand made leather holsters and rigs on ebay. Not any more, their policy pulled all my listings, and accused me of enticing sales off ebay (utter rubbish), and then I apparently broke their rules on firearms because I used a toy gun I bought off ebay to help display my items.

I agree, if you make them enough money, you get away with an amazing amount of ‘policy’ bending.

Come the revolution.......

After reading this post I've gone back on ebay to report a buyer for leaving negative feedback, they did it AFTER we gave a partial refund for "damaged" goods. I don't expect anything to be done but if it's not let's just say I might purchase something off that buyer in a few months time......

I am waiting as well...... one guy left negative feedback even though ebay told me not to refund until they had investigated. He purchased an item we told him would not work on his car.......them said it was defective and had a full refund of price but postage both ways.

I will get him back.....

Try ebay.com (US) site - home of the gonne. I'm fairly sure firearm-related paraphenalia is fine over there, but not gonnes themselves.
You'd probably do ok at that because gen-ewe-ine hand-tooled Celtic leather holsters and belts would appeal to some, and 'some' in a market the size of the US is a sizeable amount.

would be a shame if several people bid it up, for a new zero feedback bidder to win and not pay?

I wish there was a way (unless i have missed it) to omit a seller form your search results.
For example if i do a search for compressors within all categories, nearest first. i get results for a local seller of used air con pumps, pages and pages of them. I can lose them by selecting only business and industrial, but then i miss other things.

Click on advanced search and look for seller options, it allows you to exclude sellers.

One point you might not know about ebay categories. Part of the fun of selling on ebay, is that they can force you to advertise your goods in catagories that have little bearing on the item you are selling.

Having experienced this, I can tell you that they basically threaten you with removal of your items, and possible suspension of your account if you do not recategorise you items to their ‘suggestions’.

Any protest are met by, “we are doing this to help the buyer to search by caregory”, even if the catagory has didly connection with your item.
