Exactly but so many people complain about ebay....lol

I'm fully aware of how to use their search parameters. When they work it's fine, when it doesn't I hate the place.

The wildcard * was great until they stopped it. FKW.

A favourite trick from some advertisers is to use white text on a white background at the bottom of the advert, so it will show up in a wide variety of searches. I first came across it in the model railway area where I was searching for a particular make e.g. Wrenn, but 10's of adverts came up with no obvious mention of "Wrenn". It then became clear how this was being done!

eBay only searches the listing title unless you choose to search the description in the advanced search. Don't know if they ever did search the description by default but it was before my time on there if they did (6ish years ago)

well it isnt just the title they search..
if you looking for car parts, it will bring up any parts that the sellers says will "fit" them

.....the other one thats cracking me up at the moment is the "Barn Find" or "Attic Find" in the title or description. were not stupid ,,, i have never seen a Mk2 escort in anyones loft......

I have never understood why ebid has not taken off more. Low fees and free listing its strange how folks follow like sheep.

I've tried looking on ebid from time to time and as Ishigham says there is no stuff to buy so we all return to eBay and put up with their rubbish, and eBay knows that's what happens.

One funny thing is quite often I can find what I'm looking for cheaper on Amazon , and in the case of dvd/blu-ray films often brand new on Amazon is cheaper than 2nd hand off eBay... Go figure ? I know why come on people don't be sheep.

I'm thinking of going into the barn business. With all the people lining up to buy barn finds, there has to be a shortage of barns. I was thinking of offering bespoke, falling down outhouses with broken windows and charging extra for mouldy hay and a spattering of chicken spatterings. Ideal for those kn*ckered old cars and bikes that you can't think how to sell.

I've tried using ebid a few times in parallel with ebay; in the time it took to sell a dozen items on ebay I sold 1 on ebid and the buyer never paid up, so not really any sale at all. There is a real need for some competition, but ebid is a long way from being that; some heavy duty and expensive advertising might work, but I guess ebid probably can't afford that. Ebay just treats non-professional users like cash cows and is absurdly biased toward the buyer in disputes.

It's a standard 635 CSi with an "///M" badge in afraid. Customer's car with a dead ECU just waiting on a replacement arriving. 1982 would be an E12 M535i, the first ///M car officially imported into the UK. Now - due to rust principally - very rare and sought after.

Looking at its innards, I'd say that it looks most likely that a dodgy jump start killed it. It was bought as a non runner, off the road for years, with no indication as to why it was put off the road. I suspect the ECU has been toast for all of that time. I've had it running with a similar, later ECU which I don't like to do in case it's a wiring fault in the car that's killing the ECU, but I had the customer standing beside me with the other car running and he agreed that if the ECU died after fitting it to his car, he'd be buying two, not one. It survived.

The ECU should arrive on Tuesday and it should be back to the customer to complete the restoration then.
