east anglia - somewhere that will steam clean under a car?

im cambridge /haverhill area , willing to travel a bit

looking for somewhere that would put my car on a ramp and steam the rear suspension , ive been caking it in whatever miracle wax i can find every year and it would be nice to have it steamed off by someone thats not a spitefull moron so i can start fresh

any ideas please

Places doing second hand car preparation for sale would have access to steam cleaning facilities. I would imagine Marshalls and EMG Motors, in Cambridge, would both probably have an in-house steam cleaning area. You might need to go round the back, though, and offer someone some beer tokens. Quite a few car detailing and valeting outfits offer steam cleaning, as a service.

It probably wouldn't need a ramp. Steam cleaning lances used on cars often have a bend in them.

Try a commercial vehicle garage, they usually have chassis cleaning equipment as the trucks are steam cleaned prior to mot.

I had a steam cleaner when I had my garage in Milton but there is no way I would have used it to steam clean a car when it was on a lift. I think you would be wasting your time with Marshall’s or EMG, as already suggested try an independent commercial garage, unfortunately the only one I can think of in the Cambridge area was Stepney Brothers but I think they may have retired?

When I left my Agri job in 1999, I missed the steam cleaner so much I bought my own. Can't do without it.

You will not get a great job done unless components are removed. They are very much "line of sight". Even getting it up in the air will still leave bits missed with a lance.

I made a trigger with the nozzle directly on it because of this, but its very messy, very hot, and very wet.

There is a garage that specialises in doing that.
Might be the same for the Black Cabs in Cambridge ?

can can be moved , i wanted it done semi thoroughly so either jacked up wheels off or on a hoist of some sort

Does it have to be steam, or can it be a pressure washer with an angled long lance. I have one, and it works well for getting basic road salt and grime off. A washer with detergent reservoir would deal with oil, to an extent.

White plate Hackney cabs get tested twice a year here at a certain age fo vehicle - no underneath cleaning required - just washed down paintwork for panel damage assessment. Actually standard of taxi testing dropping thru the floor - no lump of plywood for minimum seating space spec - no fire extinguishers - no spare wheels.

no wasnt referring to anyone - just prefer not to have some a/hole trying to peel all the paint off the outside /cause damage with the steam etc , imagine they can do some damage in the wrong hands
