having bought an aluminium casting from autojumble the slot in it was 2 large for purpose
i clamped a couple of washers on either end with molies then put in vice . a quick clean up of casting with stainless wire brush then heated with small propane torch .touching metal with welding rod to see if its hot enough on the second touch it was hot and started to flow
then i sratched over the weld pool with stainless rod which made it flow the full distance .hole filled i squared it up on miller re cut tapered slot filed a slight dovetail in it job done . heres a few piccies of it
a simple piece any engineering types know what its for
il post the article in use after someone gueses
