Dual role starter and leisure battery

I'm after a leisure battery for running a diesel air heater as well as use when camping, running car radio in garage etc.
Looking on eBay I see you can now get batteries, I assume intended for motorhomes, that serve both as a starter battery and a leisure battery. Having a leisure battery that would also start a car with jump leads, power a small winch occasionally (hauling mobility scooter onto trailer), and such could be useful.
Anyone know if these dual purpose batteries are worth having ?

Leisure batteries are not designed to act as starter batteries - they do not have the CCA of a vehicle battery, but are for low output over long periods and can be discharged further without permanent damage.

Vehicle batteries are designed to start the vehicle and then be recharged straight away (by the vehicle alternator) and then act as a float for the required load ie lights heater etc.

I have a small leisure battery in my box trailer which is to winch in/out a 1/2T wheeled load, this is charged after each weekends use - with a mains charger - still going strong after 4 years, but now have to remove it in the winter as trailer is no longer kept in the garage/workshop - too many toys, er machinery.

I had a pair of optima yellow top batteries in the disco for starting/winching
perfect as they dont mind being flattened

As @Bobtail4x4 says Optima Yellow Top will do both jobs easily.

I have three 5.5 YTS, CCA is 975 and the best bit is you don't need to worry about spilling them so they are ideal for situations where you may need to be moving them around.

Go for 30 amp to be safe as they draw a lot during start up but not much when running.

Can’t use those out and about, hence a battery..
