I've had this a good few year now, & never actually had it running, so decided it's time to actually set it up & start using it. Need to sort a countershaft setup for it, as it's never been motor driven.
First, the grubscrew holding the tailstock end leg in place. Knacked head, seized, & I wasn't sure if bolting the lathe to the bed had introduced a bit of twist in the bed, (the carriage movement was tightening up toward the headstock end), so out it had to come. It's not actually needed once the legs are bolted down, but obviously there'd be a hole there:
so it needed filling. Gratuitous brass fitting time again. Grubscrew & its replacement.
Fitted.
Second, the banjo securing bolt. This is one of those rare occasions where Drummond had a crap idea. Bog standard bolt, causes this damage:
So, replacement which grips on the base of the groove rather than the top edges.
Just need to slot the head & then it's done. Fitted:
Slotted the head of that screw today. Thought I'd try it using the parting tool & cross slide, instead of hacksaw & file. By god, what a tedious task. Slot's done though.
