drilling?

I've got some 15mm bright bar that I want to drill 8mm holes in.
rather than rely on my friends laith I would like to drill them out myself using a bench drill.
is there any thing out there that I can use to mark the centre. it is important that I get it in the centre not near.

Combination square with centre head or can be done with a flat surface and something (shims etc) that'll allow you to scribe lines 7.5mm off the table

Personally, i would scribe 2 lines, very slightly off the centre, using a combi square, then centre punch between the two. If your punching is accurate, your away.

What size chuck has your drill got? 13mm?

If it needs to be accurate i would use your friends lathe. With all the care in the world, the hole won't be exactly centred. Depends what you are doing!

Use the lathe for the bright bar is very hard , twist drilling it will be difficult in a drill press .
