just wondering is this method strong on thicker like 1/4 and 3/8 using a series of holes? think its called button welding? any opinions on it? tanx

welcome its called plug welding on here (might have multiple names!) there is a tutorial on it. As fr strength simper to spot welding

It's Plug welding, on thicker sections slots are better than round holes to increase the length of weld, what are you making

oak bearings on a tillage roller off a tractor were worn so i made steel ones and plug welded the bolt holes along with some verticle up

Yeah CNH still use them on the end shaker shoe augers on there 150K+ machines...

tere a good idea, tats the worst of lending things, was driven 3 miles in the road ,and the thick yoke doing 40 k in the lamborghini, surprised the bearings didnt go on fire
