Drilling en24

Is it possible to drill en24 with just an ordinary hss drill bit? I want to drill a 4mm or 5mm hole in the side of a bit of 12mm round bar of en24.

Yes of course, so long as it's not in the hardened condition.

Life would be a bit tricky if you couldn't. If it's hardened you're into carbide bits or EDM.

I don't know conclusively but I think "t" could stand for "Toughened", as Ronan stated above "standard en24 in the "t" condition is 28-32 hrc", which lead me to believe "t" is harder.

No, common misconception, "t" is a heat treatment "band" or "bracket" . These bands are q,r,s,t,u,v,w,x,y,z. But "t" seems to be the most common and the one i associate with en24.
