Drillbit set up to £30

Hi all

I need a new set of drill bits. I know Dormer are usually the go-to for a quality set of bits but I can't quite afford that... has anyone got any recommendations for a set around the £30 mark that's good?

I mainly do mild steel up to around 3mm or so, and the odd bit of dead-tree-carcass-wrangling here and there.

I bought a variety of Dormer bits off pjstools on ebay (100% satisfaction from 26,000 sales!) last year and thought they were great value for money.

Start at £3 for a pack of two of the smaller diameters, while the larger ones come in singles. You should be able to put together your ideal set for around £30?

I like the lidl ones in a metal tin 0.5mm up to 10mm in .5 increments

These cobalt Sealey ones on Amazon look suspiciously similar to the Heller ones but a bit cheaper.

UK drills on ebay seem to be ok quality in my experience.

Cheers guys. didn't realise the dormer stuff was as cheap as that, will either pick some up from ebay or just go for the heller set from toolstation, ta

have a peek at MM Bosch sets, they are a good set of drills.

For the money I don't think you'll go far wrong with a presto set. i have a set that were about £30 1-13mm and they've been surprisingly excellent. I'll buy them again and I'm usually a bit of a snob with drills, taps, etc dormer all the way usually.

It's not surprising because they are top players. It's surprising good drill sets can be found that cheap

I saw a box of Bergan bits at the nec ..
Tbh they looked and felt OK..

At these prices a few dozen holes from each would still be cheap..

Well that is very true. Santa is bringing me the sets in 0.1mm increments.

Same set can be had for less than half the price on eBay if you wanted to try them. I've never tried but for wood at least they would be fine.

To be honest I used to buy those 170pc ebay specials and bang them through the CNC mill as disposables for jobs that weren't critical - I never had one let me down even pushing them in at 3-4krpm
