Jacobs Chuck arbour removal
Ok chaps what’s your top tips for removing the arbour from Jacobs chucks, I’ve got a No.36 Chuck with a MT3 arbour that is a bit bashed up. I would like to replace this with a MT4 arbour, there isn’t much shoulder to use wedges so looking for a alternative:www.mig-welding.co.uk

Yes, and MSC are out of stock.Did you read the whole thread? The wedges are available from MSC in UK. Part numbers noted in that thread.

Too much stress in the wrong place, wedges are used to spread the load.Any arbor that has an internally-threaded end (and your R8 arbor fits that description), you do not need wedges at all. Put a suitable piece of tube over the arbor and use the drawbar to press it off.
