Drill bit storage

im beginning to get quite a collection of drill bits, from 1.5mm up to about 19mm, with multiples of each size, and i'm looking for some sort of case to store them in? something with atleast 20 (possibly 30) compartments? to make it a bit easier to identify what is what, can anybody recommend anything? cheers

Best is the proper storage tins - hold 1mm up to 13mm in 0.5mm increments. The empty cases come up on ebay now and then. I might have a knackered set that you can have - the drills are probably fooked, but the box is ok. I'll have a look next week.
For the bigger ones i keep them in the plastic boxes that they come in from the manufacturer.

Im messy, i have an old biscuit tin, just chuck them in
Drills, taps, dies, holesaws, the lot

A drill index box is probably the easiest way, keep the best one of each size in there and keep them sharp.
Bigger than 13mm, wouldnt do much harm in a tin?
Is it purely for workshop use? or in the van?

Aldi had some storage boxes on special the other day ,do you have aldi over ther Simon?

mk have had a look around ebay, the tackle boxes only seem to have up to 8 compartments

none of them are in plastic cases, i bought a couple of (new) job lots of guhring bits off ebay. big bits would be fine in a tin, atleast you can find/read the size off them

nope no aldi over here closest one is in dublin and im ******** if im driving 100 miles in an escort for a case the powercraft came off ebay (noticing a trend here )

If you look around, you can get different sizes of them, and different sized trays.

Screwfix do compartmented boxes, don't know if they have the range you want. Have you got a Wurth supplier over there?, we have a box of their drills 0.5 - 10.5mm in a compartment box and they have a habit of selling everything seperately as we found out when we ordered a selection box of screws - recieved a divided metal case and 20 boxes of screws!

could always drill holes in a piece of wood to make a drill stand and keep spares in a tin,,,used to do that as an apprentice ...

Howsabout, a sturdy tin, with a dit of wood bonded underneath the lid....drill as per gavs idea, but also the benefit of the tin
