Dress Down Hidden Welds or Not

Hi;

Just Butt welded a home made repair panel into the floor of my Mini and was thinking of NOT dressing down the welds??

I welded from the top so most of the weld is on top but will be hidden under the carpet, my understanding is that an undressed weld is stronger or is this NOT true, if it is, to maintain a little more strength, I was thinking of only cleaning up the underside that will be visible?

Any thoughts from the experts out there.

By the time you have painted, under sealed and wax oiled or whatever your planning on doing to the underside it really won't matter unless your going for a concours show car.

A weld that is not ground flush is stronger than a weld that is ground flush.

I agree, in area's that are not seen I usually just tidy it a bit and take the nibs off, skim over a couple of times with a flap disk so it's all roughly the same level but well high if you know what I mean

if you grind it back it looses strength. my rule of thumb is, if you cant see it without having to physically move things first or have to clamber under the car then it doesn't get dressed down
