Hi there, was asked recently by a friend to make up a couple of brackets or holders for a draw bar. The thing on the back of a castle gate the the big bit of wood drops into to reinforce the door. Now he doesn't own a castle so most likely for a gate or door. I have a design in my head but want to see if any of you folks has done this before and if you have could you post a few photos for me to see thanks in advance

Do you mean drop bar brackets? For the bar on the back of double doors you can pivot bolt the bar off-centre and use one bracket facing up and the other facing down. The off centre pivot on the bar weights the bar and keeps it in the drop bar brackets.

So my idea was, if you can imagine a capital H, now remove bottom left line and top half of the top right line with a possible strengthener running from left to right in an angle. Now I know that this description is bunkers so I'll post a very quick drawing and thanks for the replies and info the. Dotted line is where the possible strengthener could go
