Hi All,
Just a curiosity question about a draper 135at turbo i bought a year ago,got round to getting a bottle of gas and some 0.8 wire at last and tried it out the other day on some 3mm flat bar. After messing with the settings it was giving a resonable weld and got on with welding a job together, after about 20 mins i noticed a hot smoldering smell which turned out to be the plastic insulation at the end of the earth cable where it bolts into the set, totally destroyed and melted.Did i over do it or is there something wrong with the set.I was using med-high settings,i did fix it and got it going again but noticed the earth end was getting warm again, and as it was a gas/gasless set does it need what seems like another earth from the set to the gun when using it on gas only and only needs the usual earth from the set to the work piece. Is it the set,is it me expecting to much from it or do i skip it and find something a bit more suitable.
