Double sided tape - identification?

Found this on something I am taking apart and would like to replace it with more of the same stuff.

It is a double-sided adhesive tape with the consistency of cured silicone. Very sticky adhesive.
Size is about 12mm wide by 2mm thick.

It's not obvious from the photo but it was originally clear/opaque I would think.

All I can find is Kapton tape which seems expensive for large amounts or silicone tape on ebay from china but that all seems to be 1mm thick.

Any ideas?

I used to get a foam doublesided tape from maplins, when they were no more i was told a generic name is number plate tape.

Was good as it has a thickness so coped well with surface iregularities. And the glue was fairly awaome.

Was black in colour though.

So called "nano tape". It's clear, very sticky, no residue, about 2mm thick and it looks like silicon.

NB. I have bought a few rolls of this but that auction is not the price I paid or the seller, I just linked the first one I found.

Amber tape? used it to stick aluminium sheets to doors/ramps/frames on horseboxes, Service Metals sell it...

pretty sure this is the stuff - it's what the rolls look like anyway

a suitable foam tape like VHB would work too - just need to get the right one for whatever it needs to stick to

Sounds something like Creative brand, nano gel tape. Search for barcode: 5060247073323, which is 30mm wide, and look for 12mm.

I used number plate tape to stick my reversing camera screen to the dashboard. Normal double sided tape wouldn't touch it. This stuff is like the proverbial to a blanket.

Ive used that amber tape to stick alloy sheet to lorry roof its amazing once it gets a day or two to set ,,
I got mine from a 3m trade outlet. The rolls I got were about an inch wide , but it has a shelf life , the roll I have here is about five years old and its just not as sticky by half.

Got to be careful doing this.I had a customer that did the same to a brand new car, when he removed it he found out that the dash was painted plastic by the square of different colour where it pulled the paint off.

Its really great stuff , I stuck sheets of alloy onto steel to make a valance ,, I put some rivets in too , but in real life they were only for show.

yeah - surfaces need to be degreased/abraided and hot enough, pressed/ rollered over but you're not getting a sheet of alu off without damaging/marking it once it's properly stuck on...maybe with a heat gun..

it does have a shelf life tho and doesn't last forever, maybe what's happened in the OP's pic? looks like it's only failed on one side so maybe the other surface wasn't properly prepared or started rusting ... bit gutting putting some rivets/mechanical fasteners on an otherwise clean panel but belts n braces

not 100% but foam tapes like 3M VHB last longer...they're used to hold on panels on coaches etc!

I never gave that a thought. But as it's a base model transit connect, I would think it would be just plastic, with no paint on it.
