Donkey saw. Daft question of the day???

I have tried my rapidor with the blade in different ways. Facing forwards cuts faster but sometimes digs in and stalls. Rear facing cuts much smoother and very accurately. The saw seems happier this way and it will cut 1mm slithers off bar or box straight and true

well it will cut much easier on thin stuff if its getting relief on the return and cuting .try using a more tpi blade . mine doesnt like the coarse ones

mine is running clockwise but even if it was running anti the blade would still cut in the forward position the only thing that would happen is when the blade is pushed forward the conrod is pushed from the top forcing the frame down over if it were anti clockwise it would push the frame from the bottom of the crank and tend to push the frame up over which is no good

Changed the blade round and can't say much was different to be honest. Still cut and did a reasonable job and still shook itself about a bit. Nothing major though, its on castors and stayed where I put it. Cheers for all the replies.

So I suppose that means as long as the blade's moving it'll hack its way through regardless.

it will if the saw hasnt a relief mechanism on return. i never bother using the dashpot and piston and the blades last realy well still

Nothing as clever as that ...just a gas strut and a handle to hang some weight off of if you get bored of waiting!

A down cutting power hacksaw or bandsaw, should cut toward the fixed jaw.

We had a rapidor where I used to work and we used to hang a 14 lb sledge on it to speed things up!

I use a big old lathe chuck thats so worn in the scroll its useless as a chuck, but use the jaws to clamp it on the end of the bow as a "accelerant"

i just press down on the bow on the cutting stroke
