mains pressure adjusts in summer and winter, higher in summer lower in winter

if theres any leak in your area it will show lower pressure on the mains

its also seeable when loads are wanting water at the same time water pressure builds up at night time

Could simply be water temperature - the cold water coming in is colder, the new combi isn't man enough to heat the water to the temp called for, you wind the shower tap to the desired temp, which can only be got to with reduced cold mix flow?

As above, noticed that the waterfall shower isn't trying as hard, seems about half flow.

Kitchen tap closest to stop cock seems reduced flow but I can't decide really if it's that much different.

check that your stop tap is on enough

if was fine after the installation of boiler dont bother as a mains problem

Scottish water reduced the pressure to our estate a few years ago, down to about half what it was, I complained and they came out and said, its within spec, just over the minimum limit. I could hardly spray water over the cars for washing. It was more than a year before it was put back to normal. No explanation offered.

As an ex 'water board' technician, who used to go out to these sort of jobs, my first port of call would be the internal stoptap.
Run the cold water kitchen tap and open / close the stoptap several times. It's handy if you get someone watching what is coming out of the tap or put a bowl under it as sometimes stuff gets clogged in the stoptap jumper and this usually releases it.
When you're done, open the stoptap fully and wind it back in 1/4 turn, this stops them getting seized. If still the same, try the same thing with the outside stoptap. I reckon at least 80% of the 'low pressure' problems we go called to were actually low flow and stoptap related.
If still no joy, then get the water board out and get a pressure and flow test both inside the house and at the outside stoptap if you have a meter box fitted, they shouldn't charge. Pressure / flow at the meter box should be pretty good and at the kitchen cold water tap should be a little less, but not drastically. The minimum spec used to be 1 bar of pressure with a tap running at 9l/min at the outside stoptap. As long as this is met at the outside stoptap the water board will consider their obligations fulfilled, anything after this is 'your problem' but a decent technician will try and help you look a bit further.

Ours has dropped round here and I think it's because there are about 1,000 new houses and they just keep tapping into the mains to supply them

Its easy to confuse pressure with flow, you can have pressure but no flow if there is a restriction in the supply. You can get a two bob pressure gauge with a conical rubber on the end or a screw on an outside tap job to check pressure.

Phoned UU today, did the full stopcock on and off trst, asked me to run a gallon, did it in 27 seconds so within their parameter of 30 seconds.
Now I've been thinking which is always dangerous, I have had problems in the past with the thermostatic control in the shower mixer.
Usual symptoms are it varying in temp and eventually stopping flow. Never slowing flow down first though. With advice off you lot I've changed 2 so far. This one is about 2 years old, lasted longer than last one so far.
I tried something that maybe I should have earlier, the flow from the overhead shower is weak, also the handheld shower head on the same line after the stat, is weak. But we also have a handheld at the tap end tried that and it is OK on cold and hot.
So I'm wondering if I'm imagining reduced flow on the cold in from stop cock.
Maybe the new boiler is showing up a waxstat on its way out.
Or the boiler is restricting flow to the shower and hot taps and there's nothing wrong with the stat, or there may be 2 problems.
Hope this makes sense.
Anyway I'm going to replace the stat.

Received this today of Evil Bay, stat for shower, supposed to be new, has a chip in the plastic either side, just on the o ring flange.

Cheapest I could find at £80,couple of years ago £60.
Seller said send it back but he hasn't got anymore for a bit.
Tempted to bung it in thought I'd ask your opinion first?
Will it fail?

I came to the conclusion that the stat was faulty after the shower head supply slowly running at a trickle, the other taps are still OK.
We can shower ok using the handheld shower at the bathtap end.
I got the above stat off the bay, it's damaged so going back (I have to pay return postage).
So I'm no further along. Mines a 32 tooth cartridge which is rarer than the 20tooth one.
These things are only lasting 18 months to 2 years..
Are they all like this or are different makes more reliable? Is it possible to get a different shower fitting than mine, swap it over for a better make thermostatic cartridge?
Getting to be a dear job.
