I know from another thread on here people are believing this is a myth, the part about a white van man going about leaving marks at dog owners houses for another van man to see might be. There appears to be a lack of concrete proof on this one part of the dog kappings but dogs are being stolen frequently. It seams it's mainly for dog fighting but working dogs are going too. Some of these dogs are worth thousands, my own pup when fully trained would be worth 3k or so. The man who told us about the thefts has been posting all the thefts he hears about on an internal intranet. It's is happening once a month sometimes twice, mainly down south but it is creeping north. I for one will be taking extra precautions, a camera to start with followed by some sort of alarm on the kennel. Don't think I'll get away with shooting anybody

Fast forward 12 months and all the other dogs have gone wirey, and don't look too good, mine however is healthy, short haired and a fine (but lazy) specimen and was taken TWICE!

Both times by the "breeder" we got him from, luckily he was chipped and I had no issue retrieving him, they wanted to breed him so sadly he got the chop

My point is it does happen, dunno about the marking up but seems plausible, split the operation into teams and you increase the chance of talking but maybe improve success

Yep he sure was. Really nice fella and we got some great welding done there.

It certainly happens one of the countries top Cocker Kennels was done reasonably recently. Two dogs have gone around my area one cocker one Lab and I am told its prevalent in the South lakes. Sometimes its for re-sale, sometimes it for ransom occasionally it might be for bait dogs used to build a fighting dogs confidence I believe.

I could help you with a few more choice words for them. I hate thieves, any kind of thief is a lowlife but those that steal someone's pet are the lowest.

I'm not a violent man at all. I'm very peaceful. Not for those circumstances though.

A friend of ours, had 4 bitches stolen last yr. One had a litter of 7 and they took those as well. She knew who did it, but as usual the feds did naf all.

To be fair I don't think anyone was saying that stealing of dogs doesn't go on, rather that the story about the chalk marks and men in vans has done the social media rounds several times and on balance of probability is likely a myth.

First time I wasn't around and came home to Mrs kayos in tears, went straight to breeder and got him back

Second time, dog was very approachable, someone distracted Mrs Kayos at the front door while low life fence hopped into our garden and literally picked him up and ran off.
However I was returning home and they didn't make it off the street, I didn't want to chop his balls but twice with more and more bold tactics suggested they would try again
