time for a sensible thread from me

the missus asked for a dog guard for the back of her Renault kangoo and after discounting all of the commercial options and drawing inspiration from Jakes photo album i set about making my own out of 25x25x2mm box. its set so that the main door of the car boot can be opened without the dog doing the great escape so that shopping etc can be stowed. the raised desk is so the dog can see better but also so that normal boot junk can be put under out of the way. the sides bolt on so that it can be removed!


the messy welding shop is not my own but is work's! more photo as it progresses

Nice work. I used 2mm folded sheet for the base with a y wood top, then for the frame use 12:7mm box and 50mm weld mesh. Get it coated should cost about £35-40 I hate spending money but it gives a good finish and wont chip like paint.

I put in about 15 metres of MK powerbar today, damned clever stuff, put S/O and data ports where ever you want, ever used it?

Nice work, how much was the steel for the whole job for some one that would have to buy it from a steel shop, do you think ?

Try this place
They will take up to 90mm. Quite expensive though. I prefer two pieces of 50mm box welded at a right angle.

They work a treat, although they appear to be made with aluminium instead of cast iron. For general DIY/hobby use they are more than adequate
