Does the PT-31 circle cutter fit the R-Tech P30C Cutter

I want to buy a Circle cutter and have read posts from people saying that the Chinese PT-31 works nicely:

But do you have to buy any more bits? I am a bit confused as to whats supplied and whether you need to buy the "extended" tip they show in the pics

What exactly do I need to buy?

Edit.. Consdering that R-Tech sell this, I think it might as the ebay one looks IDENTICAL.

It looks the same to me, have you measured the diameter of the torch to se if it will fit. From the description it looks like it may need the longer nozzle, although there is no mentioning of this on the R-tech site. You could always give them a quick ring

Good point.. But it would be rude to ring them to ask them about THEIR circular cutter and then buying the cheaper one on ebay..

I think fors the price of the Ebay one, I just need to have a punt.. .I have read that people have got them for as low as £20 (delivered) so I am going to put in an offer.. Anyhting more, and I would be tempted to try to make my own.

I got a PT31 circle cuttere from River-weld for £19.00 and it arrived in 4 days.

My R-Tech P30C plasma cutter has the PT31 torch.

I put together a "PDF" consumables file for the PT31 cutter torch.

Assuming mine has the PT31, do you need the longer tips? Or are the standard tips already the correct ones for the circle cutter?

For the one listed it is quite clear that the longer tips/electrodes are needed. From my take on the Chinglish Translation there is another one on Ebay that uses the shorter tips.

I understand that.. As you say, its clear.. But my question is whether the R-Tech torch has the extended or shorter tips as standard.. Looking at the picture on R-Techs site, the tips do look quite long!

See attached pics.. The pics of the torch has a fair bit of tip/copper showing.. Certainly more like the left picture than the right.

its got to be pretty easy to make a ste of wheels to suit the smaller electrode, i would imagine there will be washers out there that would do the job.

Looking at their website (riverweldstore.com) its $23, so they can do it cheaper.. Their cheapest shipping is $8.49, so that comes in as approx £21..

After much debating with the seller, the best he can offer is £22.. I went back to their site and tried to order and its now comes in at £22.08, so the prices have gone up a little since Tuesday.

Decided to order.. Little point quibbling over a few quid.. My next project is trying to work out how to make a magnetic mount for it like the more expensive one has...

Ah-ha! The Mag mount is easy. I currently have a retired machinist friend who has a lathe and mill in his garage making me one (when the old git finally gets around to it!).

A speaker magnet fitted with a perspex disc machined to take a short length of hydraulic tube to act as a sleeve for a slip in centre-pointed pivot for the radius arm.

.............. Set the cutting radius of the torch arm, slide magnet to more or less where it needs to, and find the dot punch mark on the material to cut with centre-pointed pivot, and away you go..... does that make any sense?

Not exactly.. But you say "easy" and "friend with a lathe" and for me thats a contradiction as I have no such resource.

My plan is to get one of these

Just for the base. And then a threaded coupler

Then drill a hole through the coupler to take the rod.. Screw the coupler to the base LOOSELY (And threadlock it in) to act as the swivel.. And put a screw in the top to "lock" the bar. That SHOULD do it I think...

Edit: Or better still.. If I could source some brass rod (say 10-12mm dia) I could drill and tap that, as I am a little concerned that the M5 spacers/couplers might be a bit "skinny"..

Anyone got any ideas where I might find something like this? Perhaps off the shelf recycled from something else? Like a plumbing part for example...

So my plan.. Get some brass . Drill a hole through through the middle for the cutter arm.. Drill/tap the bottom and fix it loosely to the mag mount...

Then drill tap the top at a suitable size (M6+) and screw down clamping the arm in place...

That should do it!
