NHS crutches with the handle chopped off have helped me do similar in the past but you need to be pretty lucky with the spacing

Well yes that would do, but I was hoping for something very adjustable. A threaded tube with an Acme thread and a threaded rod to go into it with a Tommy bar. Plates each end. That is what I have in my head.

theres smaller acro props out there its just that they are heavy and kinda useless in vertical mode unless they are supported

but if you want a simple solution use a couple of pieces of wood to wedge it

CT1 wants 24 hours to cure. I want to do some fixing of fuseboxes etc so it would affect the bond if I did it that quick. Unless you are suggesting a fast cure adhesive for wood to fibreglass?

Inflatable air bags (or air "wedges") can be quite useful in some situations, in combination with a length of wood, to act as a prop. I'm sure there will probably be situations on a boat where the air bag properties might be put to good use: A couple of these small air bags will lift the front of a large American style fridge freezer with ease, allowing the fridge feet to be retracted, thus allowing the freezer to be moved out on its wheels, ready for regular maintenance of the heat exchanger fins.
