Does anyone know about microphones?

I give up, it's going in the healing box for a few years until I forget it's broken and have another go , the most I can get out of it is a low frequency hum when I touch it.

If it needs phantom power it will have a condenser microphone in it and a PCB with a preamp on it, the fact it had a jack plug suggests its not powered, how many wires, if it has 3 it will be balanced, test the mic with a meter, cable might have had it if it's old, I've had really noisy cable before

Two wires in the cable, continuity along them but not between them (I think it read about 30k ohm).

Does it unscrew, i remember dad having sony mics that would unscrew and take a 1.5v battery.

That was over 16 years ago so very vague memory.

It comes apart with tiny screws, there's a picture of the inwards on the last page, definitely nowhere for a battery to go.
