I've started arc welding and as a beginner i've set about getting as much practise as i can on scrap metal, the problem is i try and get really close to see what's happening with the weld puddle, obviously arc welding produces plenty of smoke...what i want to know is, do i need a specialised breathing mask, does anyoone here use one when welding? i.e. are the fumes poisonous?
