do these benders even work?

Yes, it will bend pipe. Heavy wall pipe.

You are wanting to bend tube. It will kink the tube when it forms. No good i am afraid.

oh i never thought as pipe and tube as different things but i see the difference now, i guess the only other option is one of those 20k mandrel tube bending machines lol , i suppose the only other rational option is to buy pre bent sections

They work on thick wall pipe but not thin wall. It will definitely kink exhaust tubing. They work well on what they are designed for.

What if you pack full off sand then block ends and bend , would this work?

Have a search on the forum for threads on tube bending - there is a lot of information posted by members.

People have had limited sucess sand packing tube before bending, simplest way would be to visit a fabricator who has one and will bend whatever you need for beer money. Or, as you say, buy pre bent sections and weld.
