Do i wet & dry every coat ,cellulose

Hi all ,i have finally started to apply the top coat on my car.
I`am using high gloss jet black cellulose.
I got a slight touch of orange peel on my first coat,i was wondering do i wet and dry every coat before applying more,or do i just color sand the last coat prior to compounding and polishing.

Did you wet flat the last coat of primer? That's important so that when you wet flat colour you don't reveal bits of primer. If not I'd wet flat the first colour coat.

Assuming the primer was wet flatted there are a couple of options. For light colours I generally spray 2 or 3 coats of colour and wet flat with 800 grit, then spray a final coat with 75% thinners mix. Leaves an orange peel but nicer than the manufacturer's orange peel.

For dark colours I'd go for 3 coats, wet flat with 1200, then polish to a mirror finish. If you rub through then another coat and do the same more carefully.

If there's a load of orange peel on the first coat a light sand between coats might be a good idea to avoid wasting paint.

I don't do anything to cellulose till it's been on for a couple of weeks. I flat the primer with 1000 or 1200 then put a couple of coats on and if nothing goes wrong I leave it alone then either cut it (Farecla) or just polish it depending how good it came out. Good thinners is essential for a good finish though but don't go for anything too fast or you'll lose the wet edge too quickly.

if you have orange peel then flat it back before the next coat.
A sprayer I once knew (He used to work for Vicarage Jaguar restorers in Bridgnorth, so knew how to get a good result) advised me to do wet on wet with cellulose, i.e spray a coat then wait a short while then spray a second coat before the first goes off. It helps build up the paint thickness and reduces the amount of flatting you need to do.
He also used to do that after the last primer coat, spray colour before it had flashed off, to save flatting.
Cellulose needs to be wet to flow and leave a good shine, as PB mentioned.
