Crikey!!! I really appriciated all the posts here. There really is a lot to digest and take forward.
I have now dipped my toe in and brought an AC/DC 200 Amp Tig welder. Make is Magnam Filarc and whilst it may not be the best, the price seemed okay (or at least I am happy with price paid) and has been 'serviced' how much you can service a welder I do not know, other than replace leads etc. Came from a gent who buys, refurb the s and sells on. He is a coded welder with 40 years experience, so has a repetition which I could not fault. Honest to a T.
So, now I need to install and electrically connect into garage circuit. 45A supply - wired to wall mounted female socket. Welder will have 45A male socket.
What RCD's do I need and what electric supply to garage will be required please? All replies appriciated.
Get him to show you the ropes Bern, the set up and that. Aluminium is actually fairly easy to weld, when the machine is set up right.
