Do i Have As Many Amps As i Think?

Hello everyone,

i recently (a few months back) bought a cheap 180Amp Tig/Stick machine. it is a Blackline tools TIG180. Think it cost about £180

I have used it a fair amount and it does not have any fancy features (apart from hf start ) but it does work great and for the money you cant beat it.

i have seen that many cheap Chinese welders (typically even cheaper than mine) say they have, say, 200 amps, and only have perhaps 125. i think on the display it goes from about 15 (i think) to 179/180ish. Has anyone measured the output on this specific welder?
Unfortunately i dont have a current clamp so i cant measure it myself.

No, but stick a 4mm rod in it.
If it's able to run them it will have most of the 180 amps.

Does it have a switch to change between stick and tig?

@zzr1200, yes it has a switch to change between stick mode and tig mode

I think the thing with Amps is the more you pay the bigger they are.
