DNMG carbide inserts

Does anyone on here use DNMG carbide inserts on their machines? I have just bought a pack of 10 by mistake, and wondered what the smallest tool holder is for them? I reckon I might get away with a 16mm shank holder but that would be tight. If I cant use them on my lathe then I will offer them for sale if anyone here uses that type.

Hi Scott,
What number are the inserts - 11 or 15 or 16?
There is a 16x16 toolholder for the 1104.. tips but for the 1506.. etc its 20x20 and up.

Hi Tengtooltom, the full number is DNMG 150608-M1 P20T made by ACP

My understanding:
D = shape - diamond 55degree nose
N = relief angle - 0degrees
M = tolerances - only on uncoated
G = cyndrical hole and double sided
15 = cutting length - 15mm
06 = thickness - 6.35mm
08 = corner radius - 0.8mm
M = chip control - heavy feed
P20T = type - P - steel. M - Stainless. 20 = durability, 10-hard up to 50 tougher.

The 15.... will suit 20x20 toolholders and larger ones 25x25 32x25 and 32x32, left and right handed. for example MDJN R or L, and DDJN R or L
The 11.... will suit 16x16,20x20 25x25 and 32x25.

So for 11.... you need MDJN R(right) or L(left)H11. H = overall length of toolholder - 100mm. 11 = cutting length - 11mm.

I have a pack of 10 x Sandvik DNMG110404 new but pack wes opened for inspection to spare (I do not have a holder) and would swap for 150608 if any use to you

Lets swap then as my lathe is only small and I think I will get away with a 16mm shank tool, but with a 20mm I wont be able to set the centre height.

I have some indexable tools (cheap off the 'Bay) that are strictly too large for my Boxford so as you say, wouldn't come down to centre height... until I milled the bottom off the toolholder

Thats an idea, and one I might even have to to with the 16mm shank tools. The DNMG tips were really just too big for what I'm doing though so have swapped for some smaller ones that I should be able to make use off quite easily.
