The guys nicking Land Rovers are pros and I'm not sure much will stop them. Round near me some farmers are having a couple taken per year. There was a guy in the "Forest" who was breaking them on an industrial scale : http://www.theforestreview.co.uk/article.cfm?id=116825. Best option is to keep it where it cannot be seen

That’s exactly what they do either hiab or just drag it up the road

They might get £500 for nicking it and the receiver will earn a few k ringing it but if they want it they will take it

@Tinbasherdan this is the best way as it’s going to put off most people that might chance it

I've spoken to someone who was telling me they used to rob them, 1k for each one and he'd always go for the ones in the countryside because they were usually left open, even with the keys in them sometimes

Bob is locked in a secure compound but when we are finally out and about we would like some better security so I was thinking of making a pedal lock, any top tips for a DIY one?

On my old Morris hot rod I welded a pad eye under the seat and had a mahoosive stainless chain that looped up through the steering wheel. A huge padlock secured it back under the seat, where it was hard to get a grinder. The chain was about 5/8” link thickness, something I found in the scrap offshore. A petrol angle grinder may have cut it, but it’d be hard going with no way to really hole it still while cutting.

On the few occasions I used it I wound the steering over to one side, and locked it up.

Again, a Hiab or a flat bed with a winch, they’d take it, but anything is stealable if the thieving pond scum are serious enough.

Will work for casuals not pros. You can get GSM & GPS blockers from China for about £60 that look like USB powerbanks. You can get the detectors for about £30 to find hidden tracker units. Is a sad time, I'm not sure what really works nowadays.
