Can't find any threads that cover this although they must be something on here.
Anyway, got meself a Portamig 235 which I would like to run at full belt. Landlord says I can put in a 16 amp supply. The consumer unit is in the garage. As I understand it, these days any domestic electrical installation has to be 'certificated' by a qualified sparky. I've done plenty of DIY electrical stuff, pre-nanny state interference, so I was thinking that rather than spending too much of my hard earned tool/beer fund I would get the necessary kit, install it and get it 'signed off' by an electrician thus saving labour costs. However, I don't know the necessary regs etc. As I understand it I would need socket, RCD, correctly rated cable and suitable trip switch in the consumer unit. I want to run one spur from the consumer unit for a dedicated socket. Anything in particular I need to take account of? e.g. will the cable have to run in a conduit? Stuff like that.
