Dissolving purge material

Hi all

I have to purge some 1" pipe and the run above it is 100mtrs ish, a company came to site the other day to do some similar work and they used a dissolving bung that once water hit it it dissolved and was washed away. Dose anyone know where i can get something like this or what the correct way to purge this situation would be?

Sliced bread will do it That's what plumbers used to use in the olden days to stop a weep while they soldered.

Air products purging techniques, origonally posted by Runnach. If you're work is in the middle of a long pipe run then soluble dams will likely be the way forward. Obviously depends on the layout of the pipe run but 'retrievable' dams are another way to reduce the purge volume.
