Discount cordless Dremels

Was in Homebase today and noticed they are selling Cordless Dremels' model 8200 for a couple of pence under 66 quid so bought two as I thought it was a pretty good deal.
They also have them on line.

yes it does, the cost is not much more than a spare battery hence the reason for buying two.

With all due respect you would not have need of one of them then but there are some jobs where one does not need a sledge hammer to crack a hazel nut,

There use is limited,ok for the hobbyist and getting into tight corners when you want something derusted,personaly I wouldn't pay that price when I can buy an Aldi jobby for £14.99....yep still got mine from 5 years ago.
Done a few little jobs with it so I'd say its not had much use since i bought it.

i have every grinder going electric and compressed air. i also have a mains dremmel which gets used now and then on intricate jobs where anything else is 2 big and clumsy i wouldnt bother with rechargeable as there a waste of money and i wouldnt use them where there is no power anyhow

had numeroud dremels and killed them all. Prefer an air die grinder, much more control.

Bought a Dremel ten years ago and it was just brilliant, even on 1/4, 1/2 inch plate! The bearings went eventually so I bought another.

It lasted about a day, then just died. The battery Dremels are useless because when you wind down the speed, you wind down the power! I have one of those too (unfortunately) and while it does come in handy, half the time the battery runs out in the middle of a job.

Next time I buy one of these tools, it WON'T be a Dremel.

Got any links to decent die grinders. Those I have used have been naff.

[if u want a die grinder u cant kill no matter how much load u put on it buy a cp air grinder i have one that was second hand when i got it, it was relieved from a production line40 years ago and its still going strong

Problem is I found 108 on ebay all sorts of models and I bet more than a few have their origins in China.

yes i prefere the air die grinder...iff you go to strong on them they just stall unlike an electric one that either tries to twist your hand when it snags or starts smoking when its worked really hard

Well I am pleased with my new cordless dremels. Buying 2 means having a battery at the ready when the first runs out. Its handy for the job I am doing at the moment which is renovating a wrought iron gate set (of three). The galvinising had broken down in places and they need taking down to the metal to do the job properly. A very fiddly job of which all other implements of paint and crud removal can't get into. So as well as a craft knife with a very sharp blade and a blast from the blow torch I am slowly getting them free from the old debris. I have the corded variety of the dremel but the cord is very restricting when trying to get into the various coil shapes and crannies of the design. Like you I was a bit dubious of there usage but I find that I tend to go to them now quite a lot. I find you have much more control when cutting steel for car body repairs when getting the final stages of fitting them better than other means. The air jobbies and the angle grinders are quite noisy tools to use and I am always wary of a disgruntled neighbour having cause to complain, plus having come from a noisy work environment of the central area of Heathrow airport of 27 years, Concorde and all, I like as quiet a work time as I can get. Each to his own I suppose.
