I would have thought that if the metal was that thin it would tend to buckle with the force. He was using box so at least he had the support inbuilt but on flat or angle it must be tricky.
I have just designed a air distribution manifold using flow drilling as the method to form the threaded hole to screw in a low pressure ball valve.
Works a treat but I believe the tooling is expensive.
It was the drill press/machine that I was told was the big bucks we have had to find someone who already have the capability as non of are usual fabricators wanted to touch it as they had no experienceThe kit is about 1800 quid so not beyond the reach of most fabricators. The drilling machine if you don't already have one is a good few grand mind.
