Hi, novice welder here (possibly with a bit too much ambition)
i wish to weld these bushes into the bucket end of the dipper arm - is a small back actor off a tractor, and i bought it like this per say
I dont have the tools to fill and drill nor noe finances to paysome else to do it properly
the pin is 30mm for referance
ive a 160 amp inverter box and some 3.2 and some 4.0 6013 rods
i was going to crank it to the max and use the 4 mm rods ...
however for all i cant practice exactly what i want to do i have had a go at welding a ring round the inside of some small pipe (3mm thickness)
3.2mm rods at 90 /100 ish amps and ive melted the lip off the outside just about
2.5mm rods and lower amps seems to have retained the profile of the outside of the pipe
as an aside ive had difficulty chipping the slag off pipe was cut just before welding but not sleanedinside or out
and rods have moded house from indoors to outside in the shed if that makes a difference
before i muller the pipper end are there any surgestions for practice exercise ?
and another thing do i want to preheat the dipepr arm before i start since there is a lot more metal present ?
Cheers
