Dinse plug too long.

Hi, I bought an MMA electrode lead from an online supplier for my R Tec 180 mig. When I tried it, it wouldn't fit, so I compared it to my earth lead one. The dinse plug is 2mm longer from the key way bit on the new one , so I was thinking of grinding off the extra 2mm. Would this be a problem and should I just buy a lead from R Tec instead?

Compare the length of the key first, some of them are very tight in the slot they engage in.

Forgot to say, did measure key as well, it's about half a ml bigger so I'll file it off first then.

I've had one or two that have just been very sharp as new, a quick file off on the corners usually gets them sorted.
Should be standard, but these things do vary fractionally.

Ok, cheers. Maybe the overall length from the ket to the tip doesn't matter too much for 1 or 2 mm. Will try tomorrow and see.

Ok, I measured and release red and there was only 0.23 mm in it. It just needed filing off and it went it no problem. It is longer than the earth lead supplied but there is enough length in the hole anyway.

Sorry that should have read. I re measured the key and there was only 0.23 mm in it. Bl##dy predictive text!
