I swapped out the 3m torch on my Portamig for a 5m torch a while ago, but just realised I forgot to get an extended the earth lead, the one that came with it is 3m and when I dangle the torch and earth through the hatch between the barn and the workshop above where the welder is, its a tad short.
I have a touch of low amps body work to do in the barn on the Kawasaki Mule and I can get by extending the earth lead with a quality jump lead today for a small patch but want to get a proper 5m lead.
Any recommendations or are they all much the same?
I only do it this way if I only have a spot of welding to do in the barn. Most welding is in the workshop, but its a lot quicker than moving the lot downstairs when I do need to. I could get a little inverter MIG for downstairs but most of the stuff I do in the barn is with stick, I rarely do bodywork down there so not worth it. And yes I have chocked the wheels on the welder and put a couple of trestles over the opening since this photo
Cheers
Andy
