Hi All,
I'm looking to buy a TIG welder - Machine Mart have a VAT free day coming up on Sunday.
I've had a MIG welder for years, but I'm wanting to try out TIG as I'm looking to achieve neater welds on thin sheet steel. I have a fair bit of welding to do on an old Honda C90 frame.
It would also be nice to have the ability to occasionally some half-decent aluminum welding too.
I've been looking at two TIG welders at Machine Mart:
- Clarke Arc / Tig 131 Inverter - http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/tig
- Clarke AT161 160amp ARC/TIG Inverter Welder - http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/clarke-at161-160amp-arctig-inverter
Are both of these suitable for me? Is it worth buying the slightly more expensive one? Should I avoid them both and be looking for something else?
I don't need TIG for anything heavy duty as I have the MIG for that.
In addition to the welder, am I right in thinking I need to purchase the following:
- Torch
- Regulator
- Gas
- Electrodes
- Shrouds
The price difference for the torch for the cheaper welder (http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/welding-torch-assembly-for-clarke-at131) and the more expensive welder (http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/tig-welding-torch-assembly) are pretty significant. Any thoughts on this?
Thank you,
Ed
