Diesel heaters ?

I’m finally getting my workshops sorted out!!!

Looking to provide sufficient heat to keep it warm enough to avoid rust etc so thinking diesel heaters might be the way.

Thinking 3kw as that will be enough to warm the space when I want to work too and seems the most economic to run.

Are the cheap ones basically all the same ? Are there better or worse models?

Anyone managed to adapt or add a better controller? Hoping to run thermostatically but also timed … temp is below say 5c so heat… with a runtime sufficient to fully heat the chamber and burn off any excess deposits

Is it possible without a total rewire?

just running it at full burn instead of ticking over will keep that chamber clean inside from soot

its the ticking over that causes the soot

diesel heaters can warm up a good enough space

can they be rewired yes as long as you know its power settings but its generally easier to buy just an already wired up setup that dosnt use digital

Diesel…. Not paraffin … Unless you either like replacing the pump or are going to add lubricant. Mine has run for 5000 hours on kerosene with no problems at all. Where did you get that idea from? Kerosene is cheaper and cleaner than diesel.

Chinese diesel heater 5000 hrs

Swapped ours out for a service. Been running 10 hrs a day 5 days a week for over 2 yrs. Running on kero flat out all the time. Far cleaner that I expected. How do they do it for the money? Just look how clean the glow plug is.

Just looking for low level background heat tbh … simple control and relatively cheap to run

Moderate reliability and some additional heating on demand
