If you're worried about fumes it's well worth investing £9 in a CO2 alarm and putting it above the heater.
My heater's been in for three years and the alarm hasn't moved past zero in all the time I've used it, but it's reassuring to know it's there.

Inside IMO. Ensure the exhaust and Combustion Air inlet are both taken to outside.

Absolutely correct - carbon monoxide indeed!CO alarm, or am I missing something?
A heat alarm is usually recommended for kitchens and garages.

Thats not true - my staff were always doing this until I pointed out the error of their ways. Extra complexity not needed!I've read that sudden "disconnecting" power during operation damaged the heaters circuit board. Therefore, IMO, even a small battery in line with a PSU could be worth considering.
