Die sinkers chisels ?

A long shot as i'd say these are obsolete, but does anyone know where i could buy a set or individual diesinkers chisels in the uk ? These are very small chisels for cutting steels.

Thanks Ishigham, grobet are good but expensive, but i had forgot about them. I was trying to clean up a 4mm slot in a block of steel, i was able to mill out so much but squaring the corners etc. with needle and riffler files was taking ages. I chopped up an old file today to make a small chisel and it didn't last long no matter how i tried to temper it.

Could you broach the holes square?

not really rich , it was a blind rectangular slot, i have it as good as its going to get with riffler files etc. I'd still like a set of small good quality chisels though. None of the tool suppliers such as cromwell seem to stock them anymore.

could you make some from some tool steel. If you can harden them yourself it should be quite a simple job

I might buy a bit of ground flat stock and see if i can do that next week BB.

You can broach a blind hole but you need the tool steel anyway to do it and you have to get in and remove the waste and depending on how long the slot is or if you can set it up in a press and guide it in. I cant find a video that shows it but where I work we used to broad the allen key holes in an adjuster screw we made although we used a slightly deeper hole and left the cut in the bottom still attached.

There are still people with those skills working around Sheffield and Rotherham, not as many as there used to be but they are still there. Kelham island industrial museum has a number of workshops where silver smiths, cutlery workers and knife makers are still at work. The guy that makes bespoke medical instruments from scratch is something to see, awesome.

Yes its a joy to watch. Have you seen the blade forger on the same channel his economy of movement when he forges his blades never ceaces to amaze me

I have seen all the videos in that channel magnet , the chap making the silver bowls on the spinning lathe was also excellent imho, there is nothing like watching someone make an object using limited tools and machinery , but using skill and experience.
