DeWalt DWS 780

Has anyone got one of these? my old 305mm saw is almost dead and this saw seems to have some good features

instead of a laser marker an bright led behind the blade shows exactly where will cut
double bevel
60 degree bevel in one direction
cuts 345mm max
reasonably light

ive heard the dust collection is rubbish but dont know anyone who has one

Bloke I work with has one. I have equivalent makita Ls1013 and love it.
Didn't get on with dewalt at first due to the different grip orientation and pal didn't get on with the makita due to the same.

House bashing, shopfitting, general construction work for donkeys with both.

Generally not a fan of the yellow stuff here, but it is genuinely a very good saw with some good features on it that you appreciate more with use.

Has had some maintenance as you would expect but a robust piece of kit that has been abused and still has good accuracy.

Dust extraction better than the makita.

It's not a kapex but doesn't pretend to be, which is reflected in the price.
Second hand can be picked up for not a lot, and good spares availability.

I looked at these second hand, too. Was probably going to spring for one when my Evolution mitre got all wobbly but I stupidly managed to fix it so couldn't justify replacing it.

The DWS 780 is definitely next when funds allow, though.

When we were looking for a new saw for the Men's Shed I went round several machinery dealers & looked at several saws & the DWS 780 came out on top, best capacity, ease of use, great features with all the setting knobs & levers easy to use.
Having used it for a few years now I can say it was a good choice. Very accurate, nice clean cuts (if you fit a Freud blade it cuts even better) & the shadow line feature is brilliant, shows you exactly where the blade is going to cut.

2 of the guys are seasoned joiners & they said it was the best saw they ever used!

If you are not going to bench mount it I suggest you buy the Dewalt portable stand, you can get a good deal on one when bought with the saw.

As regards the dust extraction, I've yet to see a sliding mitre saw that has good dust extraction. I've found with my hitachi that if you attach a hoover to the extraction port it helps a lot.

had one from new......prob 20 years old now......at the time nobody else made anything like it......
still as good as new......even after loads'a work ........as accurate as the day I bought it....
on site I used my mates Makita,
I love Japense stuff but theres no real difference....used, it comes down to price.....
mines the 110v version.....I keep saying when the motor packs up I'll get a 240v motor......
I'm only diy now but if one of those folding wheel rigs/frames came up I'd deff have that as well.....
