Devilbiss FLG5

Previously only used cheap guns and I am a novice so I certainly can't compare the Devilbiss FLG5 to high end guns but compared to my Sealey Gold and Clarke guns the FLG5 is night and day so much better. The build quality is fantastic, it's ergonomically much nicer to hold, the spray fan is large and lays the paint on really lovely. It's so so much better than the sealey gold gun. The gun with 1.4 and 1.8mm tips cost me £110 delivered and after using it I reckon it's worth every penny.

yes they are good guns for the price.... a lot of professional sprayers use them

Some of the cheaper guns , if set up properly, can give quite good results.

Yeah but it's night and day to the ones I've used when it comes to ease of use, how quickly you can spray, the size and even shape of the fan and the paint finish. Straight out of the box (after a clean) it was 25psi, fan wound right out and flow control knob 2.5 turns out and it worked a treat. As I said in the first post I am a novice painter and this gun was just really nice and easy to use, more competent painters could make a cheaper gun work better I'm sure but if you're not that experienced like me the better gun is a good investment.

I bought two (1.4 and 1.8) for about £70 each after hearing rave reviews from "the Gunman", but I later found out that the version he had was supplied with a different aircap so I don't know if they are really comparable.

Anyway when I told my local paint supplier that I had bought FLG5s, he said it was a mistake as they were in his words, "pea shooters", but that could just have been sour grapes because I didn't by a gun from him? However when he later saw the results he said he was gob smacked at the quality for a first time painter, painting in the open air.

Anyway, I did actually find it pretty difficult to get a good off the gun finish, and it did have more peel than I would have wanted, however that could just have been because I am a total novice with all the kit but without a clue.

This was my first job.
