Hi guys, as I said some time ago, I converted an arc welder into a scratch start tig. Once I get the arc I managed to do really nice welds, even because I have quite a stable hand when moving the torch.
As I was adviced, I used a piece of carbon to start the arc and that helped a lot, really. However I am really curious about the easiest route to build HF. I have read some time ago, that a bridge rectifier built out of 4 diodes from a car alternator can do the job. However I recon I might need capacitors and other components no?
I am chopping up a bike right now and need to tig the frame. Scratch start may be acceptible for flat surfaces but joining notched tubing on a jig is too much for such a technique.
