Denbigh Pillar Drill

Got back at 11pm with the drill! Had to load it upright on the trailer - wouldn't fit any other way! I drove home like a granny but it was well strapped down and never moved!

I don't think it's a Denbigh but a clone of some sort. I can't see any name cast into the frame or a makers badge but there could be one hidden under the layers of crud coating the drill. It runs nice & smooth with no play in the quill that I could see or feel. It has a MT4 spindle so it's capable of drilling 2" holes and runs so slow I could count the rpm!

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow when I unload it.

Got nabbed to do something I'd promised to do weeks ago (start redecorating the kitchen) so I didn't get the drill unloaded until tonight.

I said it was well strapped down!

Lifted off the trailer. The weight put serious strain on the lifting gear. That lower section of box steel is well bent!

This is where my drill differs from any other camel back drill I have seen. The hand wheel for fine feeding the quill is under the gearbox, all others are at the front.

Auto feed gearbox - will definitely need stripping and a cover made for it!

The table's showing slight signs of use! Probably cover this over with a piece of heavy plate.

Not the original motor mount and definitely some room for improvement here.

Took some measurements and there is nearly 8" of travel on the spindle and it is 10" from the column to the spindle centre.

Cant find any makers name yet, can anyone suggest what it might be?

Fair old bit of drill rash on the table; obviously a few previous users used the autofeed without adequate supervision.

How are you getting on with the drill? Have you got it running yet? Im going to look at one exactly like your one tomorrow so any tips would be appreciated.
