Degreasing for the lazy

Well, in my eternal quest to find labour-saving ways to degrease stock, I decided to try putting my usual water-soluble degreasant into the soap dispenser of my pressure washer and see if I could just blast the grease off.

It actually worked pretty well - would have been excellent except it only dispenses soap (or degreaser) while blasting at low pressure, so you have to sopa it up with a crappy flow rate and then blast it off at high pressure with no extra chemicals. If I could figure a way to feed degreaser into the high pressure flow, I'd be grinning from ear to ear.

Anyway, worth a go if you're as bored with wiping grease off as I am. You can just about see that the two which have been blasted in the last pic are a much lighter shade of grey.

if u want to feed in to the high pressure flow buy an injector

SBP only adds 60 quid a tonne. Really not worth bothering cleaning it up for that unless its just bits.
We buy most stuff in blasted and painted, much cleaner job, and when you put the top coat on it dries much quicker rather than bare steel.
Got seriously fed up with my overalls dripping in oil after handling it all day.
Just need to be careful on the paint thickness. Too thick and you end up grinding it off as it won't weld through.

You need some thing like this to inject chemical into the High pressure line.

The cheaper way is to extend your hose to about 30meters run it on low pressure until the hose is charged with the mixed chemical and switch over to HP, repeat as necessary.

Couldn't you arrange for a venturi to pick up degreaser from a small container, similar to those small spot blast guns?

When I worked in hull a&e years ago we had two lads in with nasty eye burns. Turned out that they had put degreaser in the pressure washer tank and blasted away at something whilst standing downwind and getting face/eyefuls of the stuff. The degreaser stripped lipids out of the surface of the cornea was the theory, but they might actually have been using caustic - as is often the case when someone has done something utterly stupid they forget what they have done in the hope it makes it magically better.

Either way while the idea works I'd suggest wearing goggles and maybe a face mask so you don't breathe it in either.

The only way I have found is to premix, in a tank, the washer will suck the water/mix, out of the tank.

Have you got a IBC you could fill

I once had to wash down a cattle hay ring with disinfectant using a jet washer. I got a plastic bin, mixed up the solution in the bin, primed the jet wash on water then stuck the suction pipe in the bin.

Worked well.

Many jet washes have full pressure detergent, my Karcher 601 has it.

The wet blasting attachment would pick up liquid.
