Decorating advice please

what is the best thing to use to prep door frames and skirtings for paint. I'm thing a softish wire wheel on a slow drill???

The best pure brilliant white gloss paint that does not fade!!!

Internal doors that are not made out of cardboard. I've had a look at some and have seen in the description it say 2 lock blocks. Is that two solid buys where you fit the locks.

Have any of you got experience in the above.

First a few questions, new or have they been painted previously? What sort of standard are you looking for on the finish?
Re the wire wheel - never tried or seen one used but wouldn't recommend - if new just rub down by hand with 100 - 120 grit abrasive don't use a lot finer, you will loose the key for the paint.
Unfortunately all white paints will fade eventually, the pigments used are not 100% uv stable although someone may have experience of a 'wonder product' but generally all the top brand names are much the same.
The lock blocks are so you can fit a lock on either side, some doors have a central solid rail.
Re the cores, you can buy solid core doors and if you are looking for any sort of acoustic performance are a good choice but very heavy so you would need a third hinge.

Thanks for that. Yes already painted old frames. Have faded that's why they need painting again.

Yes to the above ,rub down with abrasive paper on a block ,handy to have a couple of sizes so you can get in to the awkward bits then hot water and sugar soap on a well wrung out cloth or sponge.. a wipe over with a dry cloth and your ready to paint ...jeff...

There's still the question of the finish you are looking to achieve. If the door and frame is in good nick old fashioned sugar soap and a rub down by hand will do for a fairly good job. If any peeling or blistered paint, it needs to be sanded off and I would use a 2 pack filler to re level. If you are looking for the best possible finish either burn or chemically strip the old paint off completely, sand it down, again fill any digs or cracks with 2 pack, re-sand, prime, undercoat and gloss - lightly sanding between all coats. I use a random orbit sander for flat surfaces and a multi tool with sanding attachments for the fiddly bits but you can do it by hand. Don't try a belt sander unless you use one regularly, you can easily sand too much away before you realise.
Thing to remember is - preparation is everything - the more care with the prep, the better the finished job

Sorry, should have added, paint is only a very thin 'finish' not a filler, you may loose some very minor blemishes (i.e. high build primers for metalwork) with the coats but what you see is what's underneath with a coat of paint on it.

ready primed u mean then u undrcoat and gloss them

I'm sure I'm seen some described as ready glossed but don't think the finish will really be that great.

just be aware if its an older home, lead in paint is easy released in sanding paints and its bad (had a client come down bad with it and they only did a banister and spindles in a 30's semi)

Prefinished are usually sprayed and normally come pre-hung with a frame. The problem you will have if you are using the existing frames and have to shoot in the doors at all, no way you can touch them up the same, not trying to put you off but even a professional would probably re-spray the whole door.
You also have the problem of protecting them whilst transporting and hanging - not impossible but be aware of the risk.

I usually just rub down with one of those abrasive sponge blocks, then sugar soap if they need cleaning.

I have found Crown Solo to be pretty good paint. What I would avoid are those paints like Dulux 'Real Life'. They are supposed to be easy to wipe marks off but in reality they chip really easily and give a kind of horrible plastic finish.
