I have had good results from shopping trolly ones
I always thought the coin was to make people return the trolley and save money on trolley collectors...Court would probably quite clearly rule that its a refundable deposit for the use of the trolley whilst in store, that no bill of sale nor receipt was given for the trolley and that the populace is generally aware that the coin is a deposit to stop opportunist thieves.
Though whats to stop someone sticking a coin in the end and pulling the whole row out is another matter....
Interestingly. Our aldi has coins but morrisons have done away with coined trolleys. If aldi did not have coins they would be littered all over and easy targets to steal or vandalised.Tesco still have trolley collectors (you have to do a training module)
They only have coin slots on trolleys in areas with high theft issues (some of the Dundee stores have them, others don't)
Yeah our tesco is by the canal....even with coined trollies the scroats still chuck them in the cut for cheap kicks. They generally don't want them for anything but to chuck in rivers, throw onto dual carriageways etc...and yes they are that destitute...like going back to the 30s in some streets....
I quite often make trollies for moving heavy stuff and get the castors from screwfix. Not had an issue with the heavy duty ones
They specify the load they are rated for.
