Decent drill for using hole saws and hss drill bits with

So just trying to decide what sort of corded drill to go for been looking at the 4 speed bosch rotary drills or just going for a regular bosch drill what do people suggest?

i got a cheapie one made by aeg from ebay perfect for all my needs it is sds but i also have normal chuck that clicks into the sds £40-50

Mikita seem to slightly better than Bosch, have one of their drills and its nicer than the Bosch I had previously.

So the general consensus is to go for a normal rotary drill not a dual handed engineering drill

What size hole saws/drills and what material you cutting?

2kg sds+ drill, Bosch or Makita or whatever make you choose if you are doing a lot of masonry work but otherwise just a variable speed rotary drill for holes in sheet metal. I have an Aldi 800w drill cost me about £12 had it years kicking round the shed and it does everything you need for putting rivets in and cutting holes in gas cylinders etc.

I use a makita sds wich also has a quick change 1/2 " std chuck ( not the one that goes into an sds) just turn a collar and the sds comes off and plonk on the alternative

Just make sure you turn the hammer off -busted a few hole saws like that a time or two

I've got a battery powered sds makita so would I just be okay with a rotary makita then?

What size hole saws/drills and what material you cutting?

22mm is biggest hole saw I use in up to 5mm wall mild steel.

If only DIY stuff probably fine with upper end rotary about the £100 mark. I have 680w Makita and its fine for holes in aluminum.

I've got a battery powered sds makita so would I just be okay with a rotary makita then?

Yes the battery version needs an insert chuck ( basically about £ 15- £ 20 goes in like a sds drill)
Done quite a few 17mm holes through 10 mm with the irwin / starret hole saws constant pitch don't get duel pitch

get a makita but not the electronic speed controlled one get the geared one 2 speed . it will break your wrist there that powerfull in slow gear

i cut anything up to 100mm in anything up to 20mm wood, also up to 100mm in thin sheet steel ie car body pannels, the aeg i have is great the black and decker i had before was also great
