The wife was complaining about the Dyson making a funny noise, I had a listen and it sounded like the brushes were worn out.
I've stripped it tonight and the brushes have plenty of length left and the springs are ok, but one has been arcing and the commutator is pitted half the way round.
Would it be worth attempting to strip the motor and skim the comm before fitting new brushes or does it sound like the motor is faulty?
A new motor is £20 on fleabay and new brushes are about £2
